As prescribed by law, 300 tags must be preordered, and the money, along with the application, deposited with the sponsoring organization. Once at least 300 submissions are collected, they will be forwarded to the state tax commission for processing. The tax commission will only accept applications twice a year, once in May and again in October. If the 300 are not received by May 2013, then it will be October of 2013 before submission could occur. The upfront cost for each tag is $33.00, of which $31.00 will be deducted from your initial tag purchase, with the remaining $2.00 serving as a transaction fee which will help offset the cost of credit/debit card acceptance fees, along with the associated paperwork and database the state tax commission requires for submission. We are no longer collecting money at this time, but we are still accepting applications for the tag. Once 300 applications have been received, we will then contact you with the necessary payment information. For those who have previously sent in their payment, you will not have to pay again, and the money is still refundable if the total is not reached. We’ve attempted to make this transaction as easy as possible by offering both an electronic and printed version of the required form.
